Success Kid: Celebrating Small Wins
A sand-grasping protocol for converting micro-wins into forward propulsion.
Introduction
Micro-wins are systematically under-celebrated in doctoral training, where the unit of recognised achievement is the decade. We document a sand-grasping, fist-clenching protocol for converting micro-wins into forward propulsion [1].
Method
Sample size is one; effect size is enormous. Wins were logged at beach-grade granularity and clenched within a 3-second confirmation window, after which propulsion was measured in units of tasks-started-without-dread. The protocol requires no equipment beyond a fist and something to be briefly proud of.
Results
Typo corrections, sent emails, and the rare clean test run all produced measurable propulsion. Compounding was observed when wins were celebrated in public, and decay when they were explained to a committee. The single largest recorded win, a reviewer using the word elegant, sustained the participant for nine days.
Conclusion
We conclude with a calibration exercise covering the full range from fixed typo to accepted paper. Attendees will leave with one (1) certified win and instructions for clenching responsibly.
